By downloading or using Page Trail, you agree to these terms. If you are a parent or guardian allowing your child to use the app, you are agreeing on their behalf.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Page Trail mobile application ("App") and website at pagetrailapp.com ("Site"), operated by Page Trail ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the App or Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Eligibility and Parental Consent

Page Trail is designed for children Kindergarten through 12th grade (approximately ages 5–18). Use of the App by children under 13 requires parental consent. By allowing your child to use the App, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and consent to these Terms on their behalf.

3. The App and Its Content

Page Trail uses artificial intelligence to generate original reading stories matched to a selected grade level. You understand and agree that:

All stories are AI-generated and unique to each generation. We do not guarantee any particular story content, style, or length.
Stories are designed to be age-appropriate and positive, but AI systems are imperfect. If you encounter inappropriate content, please contact us immediately at support@pagetrailapp.com.
Generated stories are for personal, non-commercial reading use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, or publish AI-generated stories from the App without our written consent.
The App is not a substitute for professional educational services, tutoring, or reading intervention programs.

4. Free Tier and Subscriptions

Page Trail offers a free tier with a limited number of story generations ("Trails"). After the free tier is exhausted, continued use requires a paid monthly subscription.

Free tier: 3 story generations at no charge.
Unlimited subscription: $0.99/month, billed monthly through Apple In-App Purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except as required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code
Use automated tools to generate stories at scale or abuse the free tier
Input harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content into story customization fields
Attempt to circumvent subscription requirements or payment processing

6. Intellectual Property

The Page Trail name, logo, app design, and all non-AI-generated content are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. AI-generated story text is provided for your personal use. The underlying app technology, prompts, and systems remain our proprietary property.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated content will meet your expectations. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Page Trail shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to lost data or service interruptions. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services including Groq (AI generation), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Apple In-App Purchase. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

10. Changes to the App or Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App or these Terms at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations.
